Glad it's the weekend!

It's been a strange week, getting back into the swing of school runs and a new shift pattern.  I have changed departments at work and now work on Fridays and Sundays, during the day so am home in the evenings.  Hopefully it means more stitching time!

This week, I have started knitting dolls clothes and stitching a wedding sampler for my brother-in-law and his girlfriend (the wedding is next March). I am also working on small Christmas cards in between and trying to do some more work on Acorn Sampler.

As the nights drawn in, I am looking forward to drawing the curtains and curling up in my PJs with a good supply of stitching and knitting to do.

That's a quick update and hopefully more photos to follow soon.

Happy stitching folks

Some changes!

I have changed the name of my blog, as I wanted to show of some of my other crafting "skills"!
I have added pages for dolls clothes and for a knitted blanket I am working on.

I have a 6 hour shift at work today, so looking forward to that being over so I can get back to the stitching.  I hurt my shoulder on Friday and discovered yesterday that holding any large project was painful, so I picked up a small Christmas card to work - may as well make a start on them as it will soon be upon us!

Also wanted to share, that I finished the book "Crewel World" by Monica Ferris.  I can recommend it throughly as it was a great read and so full of needlecraft references!  It did make me jealous, as they characters own or work in a needlecraft shop - my dream if we win the lottery!!!

Well best face work - can't I be a full time stitcher!!!

Happy stitching folks.

A VERY small finish!!

I have made up the cushions for my dolls house.  They are stitched on 22 count canvas, using half cross stitch.  As you can see from the photo, they are only 3cm and were extremely fiddly to make up, but I am so pleased with the final result.

I have some more patterns for cushions and also other items, and having done the first one, have more confidence to carry on with some more.

Stitching Yeah, Work No!

First shift of the week this evening and they've managed to give me another shift on Sunday - yuck!! Means my stitching time will be cut at the weekend as there for 6 hours!!Keep thinking of the money girl!!!

A quick update on what's been going on stitching wise.

I did some more work on Acorn Sampler, photo on the relevant page.  Also had a go at stitching some cushions for a 1/12th scale dollshouse.  Have been stitching on 22 count canvas, using half cross stitch.  Need to make them up now.  Will let you know how it goes!

Another thing I wanted to share, was that I was recommended a series of books to read called Needlecraft Mysteries by Monica Ferris.  I have bought the first one and am already hooked!!!  Anyone who likes needlecraft and/or mysteries will be interested in these.

Guess that's it for now, happy stitching folks x

Summer Update

After a really wet summer, I was so pleased that while away in Durham last week we had the most stunning sunshine.  In fact we were caught out and got sunburnt on my neck and shoulders!!!

Have been doing plenty of stitching and some making up too.  You can catch up with progress on BoINK on the relevant page.  I have also added photos of two more of the 3D houses - Summer in Sussex and Autumn in Stratford - to the page.

I have also started a new design - Acorn Sampler from the Traditional Sampler Company.  You'll see I have created a page to show progress.

Here are a couple of photos from the holiday:

Been Busy Making Up

I am feeling rather pleased with myself today, even if I do say so myself!!!  I actually got out the sewing machine and made up some finished designs into hangings.  It is the first time I have done this, so am rather pleased with the results.

I also made up some cards too.

Rather a good day's work!!!

Back in to the swing of things!

After the lovely week of lazing around, its back into the busy schedule of school runs, volunteering, work and housework!

I've spent the last couple of days trying to get a bit more organised.  I've sorted through all my UFO's and picked out a couple of small ones to try and finish.  Also had a big sort out of all my card blanks today, I get them from Craft Creations, so sorting them out into the same code groups.  I have a few small finished pieces I wanted to make into cards but as usual, I don't have the right blanks for the job!!!  Looks like a little shopping trip is in order!

Not at work this evening, so looking forward to feet up and stitching out!

I Love School Holidays!

After the extended Bank Holiday and Jubilee celebrations, yesterday we finally settled into our school holiday.  As I am off work too this week, Katie and I are enjoying some lovely peaceful days!!  Yesterday, we had to go and get Katie's repeat prescription and then went into town.  I managed to find a pair of shoes and some missing threads I needed.  Katie spent her pocket money on some sticker and colouring books, so she's got something to do now!  When we got back, I got the washing on the go, cleaned the fridge out and then sat down to some stitching.  Can't show any pics, as it's my BFF's birthday card and don't want her accidentally seeing it!! Today, it's raining again, so more washing in the tumble dryer (house feels like launderette!) and more stitching - told you I love school holidays!!

Happy stitching folks!

Jubilee Weekend Stitching!

This is what I've been working during our long Bank Holiday weekend and whilst watching the Jubilee celebrations.

Following discussions and seeing 15 sided biscornus completed by others, I decided to have a go.  After all I've done regular biscornus, so how much more difficult can it be!  This weekend I found out, its a great deal more difficult!!!

Here are the 15 square panels that are all different but using only combinations of white, pink and green threads on a dark blue 14 count aida material.

15 panels

Then following instructions, put it together and after some unpicking of seams in the wrong place - I finally finished it today.  I must admit I am really pleased with the way it turned out but I am not sure I will be attempting another one in the near future!!

A Sunshiny Update

Finally some sunshine in the UK.  Has been horrible working in a kitchen though!!!

For the last couple of evenings been able to sit outside to have tea and then stitch.  Planning to do the same this afternoon, once housework has been done!

In the last week or so, I've done some work on Steam Train (update pic on Steam Train page) and an smaller AOY design called Dovecote.

I am not sure what I'll work on today, I have to follow where my stitching bug leads me, and he can lead me on a right dance between projects!

Enjoy the sunshine and happy stitching.

Half Term Week

Despite having a week off, it's been really busy. A day shopping, a day with Katie's friend over, a day with the In-laws and then finally got a day at home yesterday. Have spent the week alternating between stitching and knitting dolls clothes. Here's the two stitching projects I've been working on.

It's Snowing here!

It started snowing here this afternoon and hasn't stopped, so what a good excuse to stay in and stitch!

Here are some photo's of stitching I've done this week.

I was looking for something to do today and in my UFO's came across this Winnie the Pooh one, so have picked that up to work on this evening.

Finished part of a year long SAL

Finished the first part of a year long SAL. Cool Cats has four seasonal cats from the wonderful designs of Margaret Sherry. I am pleased with how it has turned out on the coloured material I used, although I am not sure about the colour of the lettering.

This week's work

Having made up the bookmark and cards, I then had a couple of days off from stitching and knitted some more squares for a blanket. Then it was back to the stitching and made a start on the second of a series of four from the Winnie the Pooh's Words of Wisdom booklet (see the project page for update pic). I have enjoyed a lovely weekend of stitching, it's a shame that it's Monday again tomorrow!

Weekend's Work

I had a lovely weekend, as I got loads of stitching time in! I got some time to work on the Sarah Kay project (see the page for update photo). I also started and finished a Tigger Bookmark

This morning I had a change to make up a couple of cards I had finished.

This is a card for my Mum's birthday, she is an avid knitter.

This card I made for the MS group January SAL.
