New feature!!

Thanks to others asking questions, I have found out how to add pages to this blog. So will use them to report on progress on my WiP/UFO's and use the main page for general chat about stitching.

As I approach the end of the year, I am busy deciding what to work on next year and trying to finish a year long Disney SAL called Tinkerbell ABC. Got one fairy and 6 letters to go!!! Hoping might get it done before New Year starts, but not holding out much hope!

Want to take the chance to wish you all a Happy New Year and a peaceful start to it!

Happy Christmas

I can finally share the presents I have been working on all year!!

The first one is a Margaret Sherry design from the Little Kate series. This is the second one I've done for my daughter, Katie.

This is the Stitcher's Sampler that I did for my best friend, Jenni (a fellow stitcher!).

This is the Birdtable one I've done for my In-laws, following the real birdtable that my husband built for them last year.

Long time no speaky!!

I can't believe how fast the days are flying by. I am getting some stitching done but it has all been Christmas cards and pressies, so can't post any pictures as don't want to spoil the surprise.

My stitching time has become rather limited as I am busy holding down two jobs, will be glad when one finishes tomorrow!!! At school there has been a trip to the Panto, a disco and party to go to. Then of course there's been the Christmas shopping and then the usual round of housework and washing/ironing to be done. I am so looking forward to a rest at Christmas!!!

Well back to it - no rest for the wicked!!!

Stitching Weekend

This is some of the stitching I did over the weekend. I was really happy to get loads of time for my favourite activity.

I also did some work on a Christmas card and also on a Christmas present (so no pictures, as I don't want to spoil the surprise!!!)

Wish every weekend could be the same!!!

Current Work in Progress

This is one of my current projects, its called the Book of Ink Circles and was a free mystery SAL started back in 2008 (I'm a bit behind!!!) from a wonderful designer Tracy at Ink Circles (www.inkcircles.com).

If you are interested in Celtic designs it's a wonderful site to visit as she has some really beautiful designs.

A new Design

Thought you might be interested to see this, it's a Biscornu that I designed for the Stitch A Little website. You'll find the chart on there for sale. This is my first Biscornu design and I am rather pleased with it. I used beads in the design and I like the way they show up.
I hope to do a few more of these designs soon.

October finish!

This little finish was the October SAL for a MS group I belong to.
I'm busy working on some of my own new designs as well as trying to finish some Christmas presents and cards. Busy as usual!!!

Saturday 22 October 2011

Long time no speak!

I realise I haven't posted anything for 2 weeks, doesn't time fly when you're having fun!!!
I've managed to fit in some stitching among working, housework and filling in job application forms (doing that in my sleep now!).
Last night I finished a few little bits and pieces off, including one of my own new designs. You'll find the chart for sale on my site: www.stitchalittle.co.uk
My best friend arrives from Scotland to stay with us today, so busy getting ready for that. Looking forward to a week of stitching and chatting.

Another good day!!

Another good day, as I got to stitch for most of it!
I started this one last night, whilst watching Strictly Come Dancing and then finished it this morning. I really loved putting the beads on, it's a while since I've used beads and this reminded me how much I like working with them.
This afternoon I started the one of the black/white cat with a Christmas decoration, will post pic when finished.

Saturday 8 October 2011

A Great Saturday

I have had a really good day, as I alternated stitching with washing and housework and consequently, started and finished this really cute snowman.
This and the Santa, are for a SAL on the Margaret Sherry Blog. I need to make them into a tree ornament now.
Working on one of the MS sketchbook designs next.

Exciting News

I am really pleased that I have managed to create a website for my small business, selling my own cross stitch designs. I actually started this business about 3 years ago, but it has lapsed during this last year due to studying/work commitments but I am really pleased to be able to get it up and running again. The site is not complete yet, but hopefully not much longer!!
Anyone interested, here's the link: http://www.stitchalittle.co.uk

Another Finish!!

I've literally just finished this one, and isn't he just the cutest!!!
It took me longer to do than I initially thought but I am so pleased with him that I don't mind. This is the second little black & white cat done and hope to do a lot more of them in the coming months.
Need to do a birthdya card for my Father in law next, and unfortunately I couldn't find an MS one that was suitable - shame!!

A busy week

This week has been a bit hectic, been in school either morning or afternoon every day, so not much stitching done. Can't wait for the weekend to spend more time stitching!!!
The stitching I have done has been on a MS Christmas cat, hope to get this finished soon and then it will be back to birdtable.
I will pick up the latest issue of Cross Stitch Crazy tomorrow and there are some new MS Christmas designs in, so can't wait to see them.

Finished!

Finished this little Christmas Bear. He's from the latest Enjoy Cross Stitch at Christmas. He'll be made into a Christmas card for some lucky person!

New Photos

I've created an album of showing finished projects that are waiting to be framed. Some of them go back 20 years!! When I win the lottery I'll get them all framed and have a house big enough to display them in!!

This one of the Tiger is a very recent finish and I have the Lion one to do from the same series.

Monday 19 September 2011

Monday again!!

I hate the fact that weekends go so quickly, that by the time I done washing, ironing, housework and bullied my daughter into doing her homework, the weekend is gone and back to Monday morning. Still I did pick up the latest issue of Cross Stitch Crazy and my daughter has already put in her request for the four seasonal fairies that came as an extra chart with it!
I am pleased to say I did get some stitching done at the weekend and have done more to birdtable design and started one of the card designs from Enjoy Cross Stitch at Christmas. I am hoping to do some more work on birdtable this evening after tea is done and dusted.

Thursday 15 September 2011

A Good, Bad and Brilliant Day!!!

GOOD - today was fun as I spent all day in school making chocolate cornflake cakes with 60 year 3 children.
BAD - I decided that the colour given from the backstitch on the birdtable design wasn't showing up, so had to unpick round two birds and now redoing it in a darker colour.
BRILLIANT - my copy of Enjoy Cross Stitch for Christmas arrived in the post, now have even more stitching to do!!
Off to raid fridge for chocolate and then pick up the stitching again.

Stitching Again!

I've finally done some stitching today, after 2 days of no stitching, and managed to finish one of Margaret Sherry's Culinary Cat. This is for the Margaret Sherry Group's SAL. I love this cheeky little cat holding a lovely wobbly jelly, a really treat for a birthday.
I'm really pleased to have spent the last 2 days getting a bit better organised. All my charts are now neatly filed in a whole series of folders and all threads replaced in my 4 large floss boxes.
Going to start another Margaret Sherry design now, another cheeky cat in a Santa hat.

Sunday 11 September 2011

No stitching today!!

I can't believe I've gone all day and not done any stitching at all!!! Instead I started by doing boring stuff like housework and ironing, then moved on to a big sort out of my cross stitch charts and magazines. I now have a nice collection of orderly files full of charts and another nice pile still to be filed, as I ran out of files and need to get some more. Now I have a rather large pile of threads on various project cards, which I am transferring back on to the floss cards in my four large (and rather tightly packed) floss boxes. Think this may take a few days to finish!!
Monday again tomorrow, comes round far to quickly, and got a job application to complete and another to ring up about, so guess not much stitching tomorrow either - yuck!!!

WIP

I've added some photos of my current projects. Follow the link to see them: https://picasaweb.google.com/110088183479127149029/WorkInProgress
I rotate between these larger projects and work on smaller ones in between as I find I get bored if I work on the same big project all the time!!
The Steam Train at a station is a very large project that came in three issues of Cross Stitch Collection. I started it in January of this year and it's going to take a few more years to finish!!!
The Tinkerbell ABC is a year long SAL from the Yahoo group I run, two more parts to go. My daughter has already claimed it for her room when finished!
Morning Delivery is a John Clayton design that I started quite a few years ago and I've pulled it out to work on again.
The final one is the current Sarah Kay I am working on, I have completed five of the designs (still waiting to be framed) already this year and have three more waiting to start.
I also have a box full of UFOs, but that's another story!

Wednesday 7 September 2011

A little Finish

I finished the free Margaret Sherry kit from the latest WOCS. I love the design but found it difficult working all the half cross stitches on 16 count material, found it easier to use the sharper embroidery needle for all the stitching. I am pleased with how it turned out and I love the card mount that came with the kit. Another lovely design from my favourite designer.

Tuesday 6 September 2011

Big Finish

I finally finished this Country Cottage design in 2010 and it only took me 15 years to complete - definitely my longest UFO ever. It's 12" x 12" and every inch is stitched. I loved working on the design as it was easy to stitch. My best friend Jenni got this framed for my Christmas present, and it's got to be my favourite large design.

First Post

Welcome to my stitching blog and thank you for looking!!!
As stitching is my main hobby and obsession, I wanted to share my thoughts and projects with anyone daft enough to want to look!!!
I've created a photo album of completed work - just follow the link: https://picasaweb.google.com/110088183479127149029. The batteries on my camera ran out, so will get some more and then add the pictures of the finished work around the house.
I always seem to have too many projects on the go, at the moment I am swapping between Tinkerbell ABC, Train at Station (large design in last years Cross Stitch Collection), Birdtable (from latest Cross Stitch Collection) and Christmas cards. I wish I had more time to stitch!!
Be back soon, happy stitching.
